    Hi, Jonathan:

My apologies--I didn't realize there was a message in here! It is very kind of you to take this on. The game score is below; I am sorry again for the delay. Thanks.

Well talk about memories, I've always loved art and can't remember about that cover but anything is possible. I attended Commercial Art at Fisher and designed a cover for Wallack's Art Store on Bank.
One of the first memories I had at the RA was of someone and it might of been the good doctor who came up to the board and was blowing smoke all around me. He went on to conduct a merciless pawngrabbing attack which I encouraged long enough to checkmate him whereupon without a blink or note of congratulations, he stood up and calmly walked off with the air of a great victor.
I thought that was so funny.
It is such a pleasure and joy to hear that you are well and doing fine.
If I'm posting in the wrong spot it's because I'm just finding my way around.
  5. Hi, Henry:

It seems visitor messages are not the same as private messages (why so many places to look for messages?), so I sent the other visitor message before reading your two messages, which of course make me blush.

Pipe-smoking doctor ... that might have been Dr. Ken Winterton (now deceased, I'm afraid), who was a very good player (Expert or so). Andy Szabo was also pretty good, around 1900, AFAIR.

When you used to work at the office at the CFC...was it the store?....and in Vanier?
I used to go in a buy things and was always in awe of your chess talents and reputation.
I thought I was a decent player and even beat some pipe smoking doctor over at the RA as well as a what i thought a decently ranked player named Andy Szabo.
When I got to meet you, you were just so....so....nice. Kind, helpful, just an all round great and wonderful person. I could tell that right away by your shining personality.
Thanks Jonathan for all the help that you gave Ottawa then. I'm new at this site and thought of searching to see if you had a website and then I saw your name and it was like the fourth of July and I'm not even American. Cheers my friend.

Jonathan Berry!!!....I can't believe it's you. I think about you at least once a year but more often than that I'm sure. Multiply that by about 30 years...(you tell me!) and that's a lot more I wager than you've ever thought of me.
    Cheers....Henry in Ottawa.
