      Hi Precy:

I just update when Brian Fiedler, organnizer, sends me the material. I know he does not intend weekly updates. But I will send him your post, so he knows your view. Thanks for the positive feedback.

It looks for a great chess tournament to be held in Toronto's downtown.:)

              Hi Caesar,

Yes, thanks to Brian Fiedler, this is the best Open Chess Tournament we have seen in Toronto in a long time! Brian is a low key kinda guy. He is working hard to offer a quality event and he assumes the message is obvious...well...I am less low key so...

HEY TORONTO - LET'S MAKE THIS TOURNAMENT INTO A CHESS HAPPENING!

For the first time out I would expect somewhere over the 200 mark in terms of participation...anything less would be a total disappointment.

Players can register at Strategy Games in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa...anyone who does so in person before April 1, 2009 will receive a chess key chain free of charge (value is $5 including tax) from our shops if you mention this post when registering.

Strategy Games will be on-site with lots of cool stuff :)

              Hope to see you there!

                Re: 2009 PwC Toronto Open

Its a real shame that this is right towards the end of exam period for most university students... I might be attending regardless but I know of several people who will not be able to play because they have exams the next few days.

I realize the tournament might always be typically on this weekend, but why not in the future push it back one week to get more university participation?

This year the tournament is intentionally one week after Easter. The next year it might be on April 9-11. (2010 Easter is on April 4)

I came in to Toronto yesterday especially to pay the entry fee (and as usual had an interesting chat with Andrew) I'll second Larry's post about a great tournament - c'mon everybody put it on your calendar and more importantly fit it in your schedule -lets also get the word out. Oh, and by the way, keep the key chain Larry - I already got a couple (dont get me wrong - they make an excellent small gift for the chess lover (or chess supporter))

So if it is intentionally not on a long weekend, why is it not one more weekend later? Just sayin...

                        Hi Tyler:

seems like a good point - 1 or 2 weeks after Easter shouldn't matter much.
