    If I remember correctly, it was just 1k or 2k for administrative fee. There was no 50k going from the CFC to the Argentinian federation.

    I get it that the FIDE charges something for the transfer, even though we could argue that the amounts are ridiculous.

    But forcing a federation to give quite a lot of money to another federation? Just because a guy decided to move? I don't know. Sounds dubious.

      Apparently the transfer fee is enforced.

      The last paragraph in a chess-news.ru story on the Naiditsch controversy:

      Lëfler reports that the German Federation is upset by this development. Moreover, for the transfer, the Azerbaijan Federation must pay the German one 50 thousand euros. Such compensation is the FIDE rules, if a player rated above 2700 plays for a new team without a two-year hiatus.
