    Canadian University Chess Championships

    January 14-15, 2017
    IGAB Atrium, University of Western Ontario (London)
    5 Round Swiss

    2 SECTIONS: Open, Reserves (Average Team Rating Below 1800 CFC)

    Eligibility: All players must be university students or staff members.

    All players must be CFC members (Non current members may register at the event)

    Tournament Format:
    • 5 rounds of Team Swiss (Teams of 4 players)
    • Teams are allowed but not required to have a substitute fifth player on their team
    • Teams may substitute the fifth player as they please
    • The board order must be locked before round 1
    Team formation should respect the order of strength

    Registration: 9:00-9:30am

    Round Times: Saturday 9:30am, 1:30pm, 5:30pm, Sunday 10:00am, 2:30pm

    Time Control: All rounds G/75 + 30 sec

    Tournament Arbiter: Head TD Brian Clarke, Co- Arbiter Frank Dixon

    Entry Fees: On or before December 11, 2016:
    $120 for the first team, $100 for additional teams

    On or before January 6, 2017:
    $130 for the first team, $110 for additional teams

    On or before January 12, 2017:
    $150 for the first team, $120 for additional teams

    Prizes:
    Signed chess sets by World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen
    The University Cup

        Just a friendly reminder, the early bird entry fee of $120 for the first team and $100 for subsequent teams is lapsing on Monday. If you want to save some money, take advantage and register your teams this weekend!

          The Western Chess & Go Club is set to host the Canadian University Chess Championship (CUCC), 2017. Players of all skill levels will gather in London Ontario on January 14th and 15th to compete for the prestigious Queen's Cup. Last year, the A Section title was won by the University of Toronto.We anticipate fierce competition for the 2017 title. The B section is full of enthusiasts, up-and-comers and total newcomers to competitive chess. We are incredibly honoured to announce that, so far, 24 teams have registered! On behalf of the Western Chess & Go Club, we would like to wish all participants all the best in representing your respective universities during this competitive, fun and rewarding experience. Safe travels and we look forward to seeing you all on the 14th and 15th of January in London, Ontario for the 2017 CUCC!
