    There is interest out there!

I have already been notified by 3 players that they would be interested in participating. I have not followed the FIDE scene in a decade if not more, so I am slowly getting up to speed. Thanks to Hal Bond, Bob Gillanders and Vlad Rekhson for helping out. From what I understand from Vlad Rekhson, '' for a GM norm tournament you need at least 3 GM's 4 foreigners from at least 2 different countries, 6 titles players which includes GM IM FM WGM WIM and WFM.

You also need the average rating of opponents of the highest rated title seeker to be at least 2380 although then they need to score 7/9 so ideally the average for highest rated title seeker should be: 2434 as then they need 6.5/9 which allows for more draws and most prefer that. ''

Here are the players who have contacted me so far:

2601079 Duong, Thanh Nha IM CAN 2153
2604493 Panjwani, Raja IM CAN 2400
2605058 Thavandiran, Shiyam FM CAN 2367

Raja and Shiyam have both taken part in the Canadian Chess Challenge which will help them in our selection process. I hope to determine the list of participants in the top 2 sections by the end of April and I hope to be able to supply final details on the event by mid-March.

If you would like to take part in this event please send me an e-mail... bevand at chess-math dot org. At this stage I don't expect a committment on your part.

Re: 2017 International Chess Festival St-Denis

We have just made this big announcement with Mr. Bernard Labadie, the FQE President, for the players who are taking part in the CMA Futurity # 02. There is a lot of interest and several people have already placed their names on the registration list.

Here are the official section names that will be registered with FIDE:
        "Section Square St-Louis (GM)"
        "Section Quartier Latin (IM)"
        "Section Mont Royal (Open Swiss)"
        "Section Rue Sherbrooke (U-1800 Swiss)"
