  • CYCC Qualifier #3 at Mississauga at GEMS Learning Institute

    The 3rd CYCC Qualifier at Mississauga will be on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

    If you wish to play in CYCC in Saulte Ste Marie later in July, you have to qualify through the CYCC qualifiers. Details in the website / link below. Please register online

    GEMS is organizing 3 tournaments for CYCC Qualifiers 2017. Each single tournament is a CYCC qualifier. Players achieving a score of 2.5 or better in any one tournament will qualify to participate in the CYCC 2017. The top players from CYCC will further represent Canada to the 2017 World Youth Chess Championships. Player score 2.5 or more will get a Medal + $5 bursary for next tournament.

    (CYCC and World Chess Championship details further will be provided by CFC)

    All games are CFC rated.


    (Any kids can play regardless of their chess level skills. Its good for fun as well as practice for the game.

    SECTIONS

    Under 18 Open, Under 18 Girls
    (Born 1999 or later)

    Under 16 Open, Under 16 Girls
    (Born 2001 or later)

    Under 14 Open, Under 14 Girls
    (Born 2003 or later)

    Under 12 Open, Under 12 Girls
    (Born 2005 or later)

    Under 10 Open, Under 10 Girls
    (Born 2007 or later)

    Under 8 Open, Under 8 Girls
    (Born 2009 or later)
    Sections with fewer than 12 players may be combined.
    Girls can choose to play in open or girl section if any.

    Format and schedule:

    5 round Swiss pairings. Time controls: 30 minutes per player.
    Round start time: 10:00 AM, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00 or earlier
    Games are CFC Active rated.


    Prizes:

    1st Trophy After tie-breaks
    2nd Trophy After tie-breaks
    3rd Trophy After tie-breaks

    Players score 2.5 or more (Must not be among the top three 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions) will be getting Medal + $5 bursary for next tournament


    Entry fee and registration: $40

    Register online by Friday Mar 24th before the tournament $40

    Register onsite (if spots available) $45

    Must check in and pay entry fee between 9:00 and 9:45 AM.
