Thnx Hal. We are having a great tournament (biased opinion LOL

Results of previous rounds can be viewed at http://www.chess-results.com/tnr294195.aspx?lan=1

We will post only Round 4 pairings on the club website tonight. (It takes more efforts to create html code than simple transfer data to chess-results.)

After some review, seems chess-results does not treat well games with less than one move per side (when one player has not shown up; FIDE does not rate such games).

All results are now at the club website: http://www.aucc.club/aurora-weekend-...7-aso-results/

Guaranteed $ 2k but paid out $ 5k in the end. 5 sections with 141 players. Fantastic turnout.

Next year or in the future - probably needs to look at a much bigger venue to accommodate >200 players ??

A star studded turnout in the Open section with 3 IMs and 2FMs but was won by Jason Cai (clear first ). Congratulations to Jason for a great performance upsetting the odds to be the clear winner.

Many positives can be made out of this tournament. No wonder there are already 2 paid participants for the coming Fall tournament which will be held in 3 months time.

Cheers to Chess in Canada !!!

You're welcome :) Great to see all your family participating.

Jason has already won one Aurora Open in 2016 Fall, and he had a lot of practice in our Opens - started in U2000 many years ago. This time he snatched the largest cheque/prize ever given in Aurora Opens - $800. I'll write later what were other prizes in other sections.

I collected all (?) scoresheets from Open and U2000 sections, it will take longer time than usual to process them.

                        .
This achievement is even made more remarkable considering he managed to defend his crown even though there were 5 titled players came to raid the Aurora crown !!! and he managed to run away with the biggest $$$.

I see a great future in Canadian Junior chess

But winner Jason Cai is not interested in travelling to the Canadian Junior this week? Nor is Sergey Noritsyn.

Aurora champion Jason Cai joins us at the last minute and will be the favorite at CJCC ( I guess with his wonderful display ) but Sergey Noritsyn has not indicated his interest yet. Probably he has other obligations during the WJCC in Italy and so not joining CJCC.

Technically this is not correct. We had Spring Open this year (and no Summer open last year). Thus the crown was lost by IM Kaiqi Yang, and regained again by Jason :)
