  • First round statistics

    Total: 64 out of 128 players advansed to the 2nd round.

    Russia: 18/20 (90%). Just 2 russians lost, both to another russian player. That means Russia got 18 out of 18 posiible players in 2nd round.

    USA: 6/9 (67%).

    China: 7/9 (78%).

    India: 5/7 (71%)

    Ukraine: 3/6 (50%).

    Canada: 1/2 (50%)

    The rest: 24/75 (32%).

    There was (sort of) one US v US match as well: Onischuk v Zherebukh. "Sort of" because Zherebukh didn't show up.

          Three more;

          England: 1/3

          Germany: 1/3

          Georgia: 1/4


          I'll leave it to Victor and Egis to negotiate t the percentages :D


          Interesting that a country with so many more GMs and a huge national chess federation like Germany had only 3 World Cup qualifiers when we had 2.

            Actually, Germany doesn't have too many over 2600 GMs (6). Under 2600 players have pretty low chances to qualify to the Wolrd Cup from Europe or Asia. So, 3 German players in the World Cup looks like a reasonable number.

              After 2 rounds:

              Total: 32 out of 128.

              Russia: 9/20 (45%). Only 9/18 in the 2nd round.

              USA: 5/9 (56%). 5/6 this round, including "big three" Caruana - So - Nakamura.

              China: 4/9 (44%).

              India: 2/7 (29%)

              Ukraine: 2/6 (33%)

              Canada: 1/2.

              The rest: 9/75 (12%)
