      Re: Chess Fortune Cookies!

Thanks all! So here's the list of CFC fortunes:

      1. You tend to see things in terms of black and white.
      2. Even a simple pawn can become royalty.
      3. A move with no thought is one that loses.
      4. Memorization without understanding is meaningless.
      5. Joy comes not from winning but from playing.
      6. The fork will soon be with you.
      7. Enjoy a knight out!
      8. Don't panic, play chess.
      9. In your next chess game you will receive a pleasant surprise.
      10. Your chess games will be filled with magical moments.
      11. Compromise is wrong if it means sacrificing a principle of chess.
      12. The time is right to learn a new opening.
      13. Good chess is clear thinking made visible.
      14. Always be open to new ideas.
      15. Preparation done, trust your intuition.
      16. Improve your game, practise makes perfect.
      17. Funny thing about chess, the more you play the more you learn.
      18. Every Chess master was once a beginner.
      19. Be happy, play chess!
      20. In chess as in life, choose your move carefully.

Packaging and branding looks phenomenal! Here's one of our mockups:

Update; graphics just got approved for branding the fortune ...woo hoo!

Alberta Chess Association + BANFF OPEN + SoCA [Society of Chess Aficionados]

Now it's up to the printer people to do their thing! Might just add a few more fortunes too...

Thanks Ian for allowing us to play in your space!

      Thanks again to all!

I have to admit Neil that this looks terrific. There is a thread here on CT with famous chess quotes - perhaps something in there may be useful?

Thanks for your comment and your suggestion too!

            I've added 5ive more chess fortunes :)

            1. Attack! Always attack!
            2. To get squares, give squares.
            3. Tactics flow from a superior position.
            4. Help your pieces so they can help you.
            5. Pawns are the soul of chess. I'm just a fortune cookie.

That last one, #5, is a hack of François-André Danican Philidor + Wayne Komer ... just because.

BTW, da googe has volunteered to do all the French translations ... represent!

                Re: Chess Fortune Cookies!

So far 2017 has 29 entries. We need 4 more for all time record (i.e. more than last year). FM Dale Haessel has told me he is playing but has yet to register.

                  Re: Chess Fortune Cookies!

Congrats of the fortune cookies. Really nice job.

Having said that, my favorite chess cookies are still Pepperidge Farms Chessmen Butter Cookies. Mmmm ...

Gave them out last Christmas at the RA Centre Chess Club during the Christmas Speed Tournament we held. Will have them on the refreshment table at the Almonte Open this weekend.
