    Actually, all in fun.

To any German-speaking friends: Check out the chessbase.de site making good fun of the Canadian Open (especially in the picture captions).

I don't want to mock the translator but I find the article so difficult to read in English that I gave up half way - with a headache to boot!

      Very funny, indeed!

Seems the board is not on the right side (black square on the right).
Are you sure these two guys know how to play?? :)

I take it its a computerized babblefish word by word translation with no human involvement.

It's just an automatic online translation by Babelfish. It is not the translation that I was pointing to, but the actual captions that the German website put on the photos.

Just go down to the picture captions, the joke is pretty clear.

I haven't been to Edmonton since around 1957 but that's kind of how I remember it. :) I worked on the trains that summer. Selling newspapers, candy bars, playing cards, etc. Never went back.

Do y'all have indoor conveniences these days? :)

thnx for pointing. I noticed that German (.de) site is sometimes completely different from English (.com), so it really worth to visit it.

It's all good clean fun, I know the Germans have always had a fascination with the pioneer west, hence the popularity of Karl May books. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_May

The thinest book in my library is on German humour. You can imagine my surprise when I saw those pictures and captions.

You must mean Hans Ree, and yes he is overdue for an article on Canadian chess.:D
