  • Zoltan Sarosy's games

I have posted 339 of Zoltan Sarosy's over-the board games on the CanBase II site. They are from his original scoresheets, and cover the period of 1949 to 1977 - largely Toronto events. I still have about 50 other games (private matches and inter-club events) and I will probably enter those in the next couple of weeks. I will have to go through his hundreds of correspondence games since many of them are in existing databases. I don't plan to enter them all - since there are many "silent resignations" (i.e. the opponent never replied to a move).

For those of you not familiar with him, he was born in 1906 in Budapest; was in post-war II Germany and France; and moved to Toronto in 1950. At 102 years old, he is still active in correspondence chess (an IM with a 2282 ICCF rating - at which he is better known than for over-the-board chess).

    Re: Zoltan Sarosy's games

There are now 452 of Zoltan Sarosy's over-the-board games in the database. These are all his OTB games I have (with the exception of several private matches - I will try to enter these later).

Note that he invariably played 1. c4 with White, and against 1. e4, he would reply 1....c5 2. Nf3 Nf6.

If anyone can supply any missing first names (or other errors) let me know.
