be CFC-rated for active (rapid) rating.\n\nAs this is a non-profit event
run on public space\, there will be chess activities available for non-CFC
players. If you like chess and you just want to show up and check things
out and play\, we will have chess for you.\n\nThe only way to register for
the tournament is to email us your info in the e-transfer link\, before r
egistration closes.\n\nThis is a free chess tournament provided by the Eto
bicoke Chess Club. While strictly voluntarily\, we would appreciate any do
nations as it helps our chess club continue to improve and maintain the le
vel of service we provide to the chess public\, from boards\, clocks\, arb
iters\, and CFC rating fees for CFC tournaments. You do not have to donate
for any of our CFC tournaments\, but if you would like to show your suppo
rt to our club you can e-transfer us at etobicokechessclub@gmail.com or me
et with any of our directors at the ECC to give a donation.\n\nJeremy D&#8

 tion\n\nEmail to etobicokechessclub@gmail.com with description:\n\n(First
name) (Last Name) / (rating) / (CFC ID) / (Email) / (Phone number) / (bye
 requests)\n\nIII) Prizes\n\n&#8211\; CFC rating points\n\n&#8211\; Braggin
g rights\n\n&#8211\; Everlasting Glory\n\nWe do not believe in handing out
trophies\, ribbons\, or prize money. Chess is not an easy sport. Our tour
naments are particularly difficult\, because our players are only interest
ed in playing solid chess and winning. At our tournaments\, our players do
n&#8217\;t make prize money or medals or trophies. Our players make histor
y.\n\nIV) Playing up\n\nYou must be within 100 rating points of that secti
on to play in it. If you&#8217\;re CFC unrated\, you must have previously
won a chess championship on some national level in order to be allowed to
play up. This is called the Ghaytasvand exception. Look for &#8220\;Parviz
Ghaytasvand&#8221\; in the &#8220\;Champions&#8221\; section of our websi
te to learn why this is allowed.\n\nYou may also play up if you are CFC un
 rated and you win a &#8220\;Trial by Combat&#8221\; or &#8220\;Challenge G
ame&#8221\;.\n\n&#8211\; Come to the club night on a Friday\n\n&#8211\; Ch
 allenge a CFC-rated player who plays in your targeted section\n\n&#8211\;
If the rated player agrees\, you&#8217\;d have to play against them at a t
ime control of their choosing\, for one game\, and they choose colours.\n\
n&#8211\; If you win or draw\, you play in their section. If you do not wi
n or draw\, you will be placed in the lowest section of the tournament and
will have to challenge for the next highest section.\n\nIf you initially
challenged for one level higher than the lowest section\, you do not get a
nother challenge game and you&#8217\;ll have to play in the lowest section
we have to offer\, as most unrated players are made to do during any ches
s tournament. If you are wondering\, as an unrated player\, why we are all
owing you to play up if you draw against a rated player instead of having
to beat them\, I encourage you to come play a challenge game on a club nig
ht\, try to achieve a draw against a nationally rated player\, and watch w
hat happens.\n\nV) Registered Players (Updated Friday March 6th 8:41pm)\n\
