                Bumping up.

After the CFC rating update I'll post a refreshed list with >25 players.

Looking at this I see $30 entry fee, and a prize fund based on 50 players of $700. $800 seems excessive in fees for a one day tournament. Can you clarify?

Unfortunately nothing is cheap or for free. Try to spend some time and fill the table:

                    rent
                    insurance
                    equip
                    CFC
                    babysitter
                    ads
                    Misc
                    Paypal
Will compare it if you'll come to the tournament.

rent $213 maximum based on Aurora library web site
insurance sorry, what? I have run many chess tourneys and never paid any insurance cost
                      equip err....
                      CFC $0.50 per player??
babysitter this is the players responsibility to pay for?
                      ads $20 on chesstalk?
Misc must be some miscellaneous expense
Paypal this is what...a dollar on a $30 entry fee?
Will compare it if you'll come to the tournament.
Soo...$213 for room, $25 for the rating fees, $20 for ad, $50 on paypal fees. $300.

That leaves $500 for a babysitter, equipment, and "misc".

                      Think I'll pass.

Good that you did not do the budget for the tournament ;)

                          Egidijus,
Thanks for running this tournament. I enjoyed the last one in January and I am excited to be playing again. The cost and prizes are not a concern of mine and maybe they should be as last time I tied for second.
                          See you next weekend
                          Brian

In the "good old days" in Ottawa - Doug Burgess and/or Terry Fleming would post a detailed accounting of receipts and expenses for all to see before the end of the tournament.

Should such information be made available to the players?
