    Week # 19 (22/5/4 – 10)

    Weekly Stats:

    ....................................................2022 Average............................................................... 2022 Average

    .............................Last Week's.....Views/Day.......................................Last Week's.........Responses/Day.

    Stats Analysis

The activity in the thread last week is behind the 2022 Average so far..

This is understandable since there were many more posts per week in the beginning than now, as everyone had their say.

I have now settled into trying to make 5-6 climate change posts per week, to keep everyone up on the latest information. This may not make the thread “active” but I hope to keep climate events as they are occurring before ChessTalk'ers.

I would encourage other chesstalk'ers to post here, as well, climate change items of interest they come across, to share the newest information.

    The Pressing Climate Change Issue

The core issue, IMHO, IS how to get society to perceive the issue as URGENT, as it is.

What action is needed from climate activists to “AWAKEN” the public that this issue cannot just continuously be kicked down the road? Nature's Tipping point is estimated to be, on current trajectory, only 9 years away (Around Jan. 1, 2031).

The last report of the UN Climate Change Panel clearly stated that the window of opportunity to save ourselves is fast closing. Capping the temperature rise at only 1.5 degrees Celsius is now impossible. It noted that current government deadlines were totally insufficient to solve the problem. CO 2 must be capped by 2025! And for the first time, CO 2 removal has now become a necessary part of the solution.

    Time is fast running out!

    The Large Picture Solutions

Can we come up with at least one or two viable suggestions of impressive, radical things that might wake up the public, that we could then put out there to other concerned client activists?

CT'ers' Local Actions on Climate Change

You can do something! When you like one of this thread's links on an aspect of climate change, spread the news by posting it to your social media accounts and other Websites/Discussion Boards you participate in!

Thank God Mother Nature does not view us through political lenses! These lenses can only distort and demonize...

      • Mankind always needs some type of self-government. So there will always be "politics".

But we can minimize the damage by evolving into a planet of "villages" (Abolishing the nation-state).

Perhaps what could realistically happen is that people in the states where climate change has its biggest effects will move to the states where the effects are less severe and will change the politics in those states. California is losing population, mostly to Texas I believe.

But of course, it's more than just the USA. China still burns huge amounts of coal. Russia's entire economy depends on fossil fuels. Brazil burns through Amazon rainforests to raise cattle.

Life on Earth will be saved. It will be mostly the slovenly rich, hiding out in their multi-million dollar bunkers. They will be the ones to repopulate the Earth. But maybe even they will run out of time and resources.

In which case, perhaps the three-toed sloth will evolve to become the next species with human-like thinking. They are already considered one of the smartest animals. They eat leaves (that's why they are so slow) and they have a smiling face, which when they develop their intelligence enough may help them keep violence against fellow sloths to a minimum.

          Mother Nature has a plan!

Yes, to come to understand herself, no matter how ugly the truth may be, no matter how many individuals will have to be sacrificed.

                  Stats Analysis

The activity in the thread last week is behind the 2022 Average so far, though ahead of last week.

Being behind the yearly average is understandable since there were many more posts per week in the beginning than now, as everyone had their say. So the yearly average comes down only very slowly.

                  • Humans will adjust to new conditions. Clocks have a solar energy strap on them so no need to ever change batteries. In areas with high winds the pieces fit in slots and the board can be strapped to both players' waists. On flood plains, the chess pieces and board can float and have gps embedded chips so that they can be tracked downstream. Swimming skills may be required. In California chess sets are being built with fire-proof materials and the board position is always saved to the cloud. Wearing fire-fighting clothes may be required.

The activity in the thread last week has fallen quite a bit, and is way behind the 2022 Average so far.

Being behind the yearly average is understandable since there were many more posts per week in the beginning than now, as everyone had their say. So the yearly average comes down only very slowly. This thread has been running now for over 5 months!

It is now the case that only a couple of ChessTalker's, besides me, ever make an original climate change post. It is not that something is wrong with ChessTalker's....... we are merely reflecting the priority that society generally is currently giving to the climate change issue......a very low priority!??

As I have said, both society, and ChessTalker's, need to raise climate change on their list of priorities on which to spend time. Post any climate change items of interest that you come across, to share the newest information. There is lots of information out there, and we often only come across a small portion of it.

Stupid corrupt Americans continue to throw up more urgent shit and moving climate change lower down on the priority list. Recently it was the Supreme Court attacking abortion rights, and now another mass school shooting in Texas. Idiot Governor Abbott who has been loosening gun laws and now denies the link between gun deaths and easy access to guns. God, these people are infuriating. Who knows, maybe a miracle today. The NRA is holding their annual rally in Dallas today. Trump, Abbott, and Cruz are all scheduled to speak. Dare we hope for Mother Nature to wrestle up a tornado and destroy the building. Karma!

The article you link titled "Who is to blame for 30 years of climate change inertia?" is such an intelligent comprehensive discussion of how mankind has failed to prevent climate change. I kept looking for a sentence or two to quote that would summarize the article for those deciding not to read it, but I failed. Which really does demonstrate the enormity of the problem, and the completeness of our failure. There are so many forces in play to overcome before we can focus on it. We see the problem, we know what to do, but will we.

I encourage all to read the article, please.

                                Thanks Bob.
