      GM in town

      up

We glad that the precious GM time was secured for the Aurora Spring Open - GM Bator Sambuev is comin' to town :)
The pre-reg list is ~20 at this moment. Those who are planning to play we ask to register in advance. The TD will be away and with a sparse access to internet at the end of February.

              up on the HWY 404.

Their several ways to get to the tournament (from Toronto):
              - by car. The parking lot is big and free. The pre-reg list might give an idea who is coming and with whom you might arrange carpooling.
              - by buses:
              * GO buses go frequently from/to Union station. Look for a 65 bus to Barrie/Newmarket. ~8:10 towards Aurora. XX:20 going to Union. The Aurora train/bus station is close by to the playing hall.
              * Taking VIVA BLUE or York Region Transit will require a hike

                Re: GM in town

                Final week for preparations :)

I know that Pump Up Your Rating by Smith did not work well. Only 2 points in the last tournament. (Though there a lot of chapters to finish.) Maybe "Your best move: a structured approach to move selection in chess" by Per Ostman will make a magic :) Almost finished. An interesting book. Probably one of those books that even beginners (and commuters) can read without a board. imho, the book is not for young kids - the language is more for >15y.
