Daniel Wiebe has been apart of the Canadian chess community for many years. To those of you who play more professionally, you definitely know or have played with him!
On Wednesday, Sept 30, Daniel Wiebe will be doing a lecture on his chess travels in Europe this summer. Daniel got to play some games on his trip which he will show us during the lecture. Quite possibly, he will talk about his non-chess adventures as well!
We really think this is going to be a very interesting lecture. European chess is much different than here in Canada. There's more people playing and not to mention a lot of them are very strong players.

- Switzerland (Biel)
- Spain (Barcelona)
- Italy (Rome)

Beginner/Intermediate lecture will be done by Woman National Master Yelizaveta Orlova!

Entry fee: $10 (+free drink/food voucher)

Competitive players:
Entry fee: $20 (+free drink/food voucher)
- Lecture
- Blitz tournament
- Casual games (with/without the clock)
Blitz/Rapid tournament:
Time: 7-10pm

Location: Madison Ave Pub, 14 Madison Ave, Toronto (2 min NE of Spadina station)
Time control (open): 3 min 2 sec inc, 5 double rounds (Play opponent white & black) (U2000): 8 min + 2 sec, 5 rounds
Sections: Players divided into 2 sections, may "play up"
Prizes: Based on entries, overall prizes & class prizes awarded
The Madison specials on Wednesdays:
- 50% off appetizers from 5-8PM
- Wings $5 per 1lb
- $4 2 oz mixed drinks
***If you do not drink alcohol, you have many different options to use your drink/food voucher like coffee, tea, pop, juice...some food options like fries, caesar salad etc....
