March 1 is only 10 days away.

How many CYCC qualifiers across Canada have been held to date? I know I have flyers on the Scarborough Chess Club display table with lots still upcoming!!

How many juniors have so far actually qualified through CYCC's (As opposed to being seeded in)?

Is this just a cash grab based on the system being inadequate.......won't the vast majority of juniors be forced to pay the $ 25, since most can't yet register, since they haven't yet qualified?

Is there something wrong with this picture? Or am I the one missing something?

What do others think of this timing issue?

Re: CYCC 2016 - Canadian Youth Chess Championship

The March 1st deadline seems unreasonable. In Windsor, we aren’t even having our qualifier till March 26th. It is not a reasonable charge for entering late: four months before the event isn’t exactly “late”.

I've just emailed Vlad about this. It may have slipped past him.

The date will likely be extended though if you are planning to go to CYCC I urge people to reserve the hotel rooms early as they are likely to sell out. Also the possibility of having to pay HST is back on the table, after another conversation with the Canada Revenue Agency, so whether it is a late fee or HST, waiting is likely to get more expensive. Obviously the organizing committee has no control over HST. Once we have to start collecting it, we have to start collecting it. Tournament entries are being taken on the CFC website using the shopping cart.
