I'd just like to remind TDs and organizers about CFC Handbook article 436.

    436. Non-CFC Ratings. If a new player has an FQE, USCF or FIDE rating, the rating system in which the player has played the most recent games will be used to determine their first CFC rating. If a player is inactive in CFC events for a year but has a significant change in their FQE, USCF or FIDE rating, their CFC rating will be adjusted accordingly.

      Hi Paul,

Is there a reason that CMA ratings are not considered in this evaluation?

When we send kids to the New York State Scholastic Championship, which is organized by Bill Goichberg of the Continental Chess Association, he takes CMA ratings into consideration for this event.

Thousands (yes thousands!) of Canadian youngsters in Canada, are more active under the CMA rating system than the CFC and FQE systems combined...

        Re: Rating Policy

Hi Larry. Are CMA ratings about equal to CFC ratings?
I'd be happy to entertain a proposal to start unrated kids at their CMA rating.
If you have a rating guy, could he contact me with some supporting data?
        best wishes,
        Paul
