    Hi folks;

    The space was booked for this tournament over a month ago, so I guess y'all should know about it!

    Guelph Fall Pro-Am
    November 7-8, 2009
    Room 442, Guelph University Centre
    5 Round Swiss; A SWOCL Grand Prix Event
    4 Sections: FIDE Rated Pro, U2000, U1700, U1400
    Players may play up if current rating is within 100 points of rating floor
    Round Times: Saturday 10:am, 1:30pm, 6:00pm, Sunday 10:00am, 2:00pm
    Time Control: Round 1 G/60 +30 sec, Rounds 2-5 G/90 + 30 sec
    Entry Fees: Pro Section $55, others $35. Late Fee: $10.00 on site
    Half Point Byes: in rounds 1-4 may be requested in advance
    Prizes: $50 per player in Pro Section returned as prizes.
    Trophies awarded in other sections
    Register: Mail to TD Hal Bond, 205 – 105 Conroy Crescent, Guelph, ON N1G 2V5,
    email halbond@sympatico.ca, or cash on site from 8:30-9:30 am Saturday. Players registering after 9:30 Saturday may not receive a swiss pairing in first round.
    Equipment, snacks and refreshments provided by organizer

    Hal, are you intending to answer Jean Hebert's charges regarding your handling of the Canadian Closed? If you don't know what I'm referring to, maybe you weren't following the thread:

    Someone said you were in China for a time.

    Anyway, the specific charges that Jean levelled at you were these two:

    1) you did not even look for sponsors for the Closed

    2) although you stepped in at the last moment to run the Closed rather than see it not happen, Jean claims that you had "less than altruistic" motivations for running the Closed. He claimed this was evident on the budget that you posted for the event while it was going on.

    I hope you will respond to these charges on a new thread.

      1. Considering that there were at least three sponsors, it's fairly obvious that Hal did look for them.

      2. If it's so evident, why did none of the other 30 players apparently notice them? Or anyone else?

        Is this tournament going to be advertised on the CFC website?
