  • Uploading pgn files

I tried to upload a pgn file, but it wasn't allowed. I see the list allows for a variety of other files, but not pgn. Since this is a chess board, it would be good if it allowed pgn files for upload. Is there a solution?

    try now?

I do hope to eventually have a PGN viewer built-in to the forum, but I've been too busy to get around to it.

Anything yet Chris, regarding the installation of the pgn viewer?

          Re: Uploading pgn files

A crude solution is just to just treat it as a text file, which is basically all a pgn file is anyhow. So you could rename it (F2 in Windows Explorer) from games.pgn to games.txt and then copy paste. The recipient will have to do a little work to get it back to pgn (copy paste to Notepad, save as a txt file, exit, then the F2 trick again). I do this a lot already to view games that come through in just raw algebraic without the proper headers--I cannibalize an existing pgn file, change it to text, copy paste, change the headers maybe, save as text, change to pgn, yada yada.

            Here's another alternative:

            http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-game-uploader.php

Copy/Paste your game and share the link:
