  • Hart House Reading Week Open

    Hi all,

We're back at Hart House for the Reading Week Open:

    Hart House Reading Week Open

Where: Great Hall, Hart House, University of Toronto
    Style: 6 Rounds Swiss in 4 Sections - Crown & U2200 (CFC & FIDE Rated), U1900 & U1600 (CFC Rated)
    Rounds: Saturday 10am & 4pm, Sunday 10am & 4pm, Monday 10am & 4pm
Time Control: 120 minutes + 30 seconds increment for all sections
    Entry Fee: $70 in advance

    Arbiter: Bryan Lamb
Organizer: Hyeokjun Kwon & the Hart House Chess Club

E-mail: hhchess (at) utoronto (dot) ca

    Website: http://vur.ca/harthousechess/portfol...eek-open-2015/

Check out our website for our online registration form, and all details on the tournament. A pre-registered list will also likely be up within a week.

Main changes from the previous tournament are:

1 - Uniform time control: All sections 120 mins + 30 sec inc. Surveying the playing hall in the past couple of editions made it clear that analog clocks are just about obsolete. For anyone who still does not yet have a digital clock, bring your old analog anyway. The old time-control (90 mins for 30 moves, 60 mins Sudden Death) may still be used as an alternate time control (for sections U1900 & U1600 only) in the absence of a digital clock. 120 mins + 30 sec inc is however, the new default.
2 - Team Prize: Back by popular demand! We will have a $400 team prize like we used to in the past. Teams must be registered on-site just before or during Round 1 and not before! Teams must have 4 players representing 3 (or 4) different playing sections.

Please bring chess sets & clocks.
