A pre-registered list would most probably help the people who are unsure decide whether they should register or not.

That is not generally an omen for a well organized tourney.

Last year Can-Am International was well attended with more than 100 participants. 3 GMs and our IM Razvan Preotu was there and they tied for 1st prize. U-2000 section and other sections were also won mostly by Canadians. Tournament was well organized and I think this year will be as well. Tournament venue at the college is very spacious and can fit more than 200 participants. There is also a big hall for analyzing games. TD - a very experienced guy

Prize money guaranteed. What more can you ask for ?

Last year I think almost 20 Canadians attended and most of them ( if not all ) said it was well organized. This year will be even better ( I would think so )

I just copied and paste from a word file.

Seems like a lot of Canadians are playing this year. Should be many more than last year.

It will be a great tournament again

Good luck to Canadians this year

Surprisingly, lower sections have fewer entries. This is very unlike in Canada tournaments where you will lower sections crowded with players and higher sections with fewer players. Canadians, come out and have fun and probably win some prize money especially for the lower section. Good prize money

                        Re: 2016 Can-Am International Chess Tournament - June 11-12, 2016 - Prize - US$ 10,5

To all parents of students at Elmwood Franklin, Charter Middle, the Park School, Tapestry Charter, Nichols School, Global Charter, and St. Gregory the Great:

Would you like your student to play with the grandmasters of chess?
“Kids Play Chess” sponsors the Can-Am International Chess Tournament at Daemen College. This year’s event is on Saturday June 11th and Sunday June 12th. Last year we had 115 participants including grandmasters from three different countries. We expect about the same this year.

We provide $10,500 in prize money so it is an exciting event. This is the sort of experience that motivates kids to improve their minds. Who would not want that?
I have attached the flyer announcing the Can-Am. (Note that you are all invited to watch grandmaster Robert Hungaski play six local players simultaneously while blind-folded. This will take place Friday evening starting at 6:00. Everyone is welcome. No charge. Free coffee.)
This year, as part of the Can-Am, we are providing opportunity for students to play in their own tournament at Daemen College, while the Can-Am is being held in the same venue.
This is a free tournament. Students will be placed in two sections: beginner and novice, and will play opponents in their own section only. We will award rather grand trophies to students who achieve the best results.

The tournament starts at 9:30 am Saturday, June 11th and runs until noon (approx.) It will be held in the cafeteria of Daemen College in the Wick Student Center.
“Kids Play Chess” provides chess sets and clocks – all you need to do is get your student there – but please get there by 9:00 am.
The Rochester Chess Center will be operating their chess “store” at the site and will be bringing materials for sale that are specifically for students. This is your chance to look over all kinds of aids and equipment for your chess player.

We ask you to register your student in advance. Let us know in which section to enroll him or her.

Contact Brian Sayers. bwsayers@roadrunner.com; or 570-3966

Above is additional information from the organizer which was just sent to me last night.

                        5 days to go......

I think at least 30 Canadians ( a couple of last minute Canadian entries and even one from Windsor crossing the border this weekend to play in this tournament leading by our IM Razvan Preotu and IM Kaiqi Yang. Probably this is one of the biggest Canadian contingent in a US tournament.

Good luck to all players !!!

2 days more to go. Not too late yet to register....$ 10,500 guaranteed prize
