Happy New Year from Aurora. (Did you try to watch Aurora Borealis this night? I tried - no success - too cloudy)

So many good news to report.

Last Monday during the incredible cold weather (and a snow storm night) 24 players did not mind all that and came for warm up in a rapid tournament. The hero of the tournament was Bernie Prost (left in picture). He managed to draw Yuanchen (right) and after 5 rounds with 4.5 points shared the first place. (statistics at http://www.aurorachessclub.ca/?page_id=3107 )

Upcoming Monday the Deep-Winter CFC rated events will start (details at http://www.aurorachessclub.ca/?p=3068 ) The club will try round-robin sections with 6 players. There are already many players who committed to fight (see at http://www.aurorachessclub.ca/?page_id=3080 ) If anybody wish to join and play there is still time to register before 5pm, Friday 10th January.

As the last year the club team will participate in the GTCL League. This year will try to perform better :)

I'm excited to announce this one. Our main guy, Graeme Knight, spent all pre-Christmas nights in amazing seminars listening about FIDE rulz. He was even brave enough to take an exam. The last week we got his result - PASSED!!! After some formalities he will be able to run FIDE rated events. The first one will be the Aurora Spring Open with Open and U2000 sections FIDE rated. If you like that don't forget to take him upstairs in Legion :)

    G.K.
