Re: Gary: hire a new campaign team in Canada.
Yes, I've heard the story that our President was leaning towards GK, but then he's done due dilligence and uncovered some horrible stories about Salov's issue, etc., and it is not amuzing anymore. One must have jumped with a joy when GK announced his bid to become FIDE's President and to endorse him at the first opportunity. He's failed to do it, and now is going against result of his own poll. However we are informed about sneaky and undemocratic actions. What are they?

Gary: hire a new campaign team in Canada.
I am pretty much in a win-win situation here no matter how things play out in the end. If my detractors succeed in replacing me then I immediately go back to being a private citizen and no longer am called upon to do many hours of unpaid work on behalf of the CFC. Many of those hours will be replaced in being able to devote more time to Windsor junior chess which is unfolding very nicely. The new directors can take the credit for the improved membership numbers among Windsor juniors. I won't even mind.
With respect to the GK campaign team -with the notable exception of Ruth Haring, USCF president- you have not respected the Canadian Chess Federation executive and have at each step behaved offensively and disrespectfully. Your actions have been sneaky and undemocratic. You turned an ally into an opponent. I dread the consequences for Canadian chess and world chess if you succeed in your aims.
The GK campaign is being run in an absurd manner. At one point the executive was threatened with the intervention of U.S. President Barrack Obama?!
Here was my email response to some of the members of our team. Dated April 15th, 2014:
What are they going to do? Send in a drone strike to take out all the CFC command and control centers? Will we be added to watch lists? I would say it was an April Fool's joke but its a bit late in the month.
Tell them to send in Obama. I would like to talk to him about his green energy program.
This confirms my misgivings about Kasparov's candidacy even though as I said before I was leaning towards him at the first discussion.
We had better get the NFP process done before our terms expire. This could get interesting in an unpleasant way.

Re: Who is scared of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov?
I'm getting more and more dissatisfied with the present CFC President's position. I don't see how the interests of Canadian chess are being served under his leadership, particularly voting for KI while his own poll suggest that its participants want the opposite.Originally posted by Vlad Drkulec View PostI guess then this thread has run its course. Bye.
I'll have to address it appropriately.

What is April 12th, 2014?Originally posted by Gary Ruben View PostWhat do you think the thread and objections are about? There were even dates in some posts which left no doubt in my mind.
The first time Hitler was mentioned in email by a GK operative.
The first thing I thought was Godwin's law is violated before the debate even began.

Very good observation! Could be not 100% applicable here - this theme has appeared only because part of the discussion here was about Russia's aggression over Ukraine (some compare Putin's actions to ones of Hitler's), West (Canada included) sunctions against Russia, their implications on the Russian economy and why CFC should vote for Kasparov.Originally posted by Hugh Brodie View PostGoodwin's Law has hit this thread! :-)Last edited by Sasha Starr; Saturday, 17th May, 2014, 11:36 PM.

Re: Who is scared of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov?
That is not surprising. Camp 30, for high ranking Nazi prisoners was located in Bowmanville not far from Toronto. It was for high ranking officers.Originally posted by Sasha Starr View PostNext day we all flew back to Toronto and guess what: a lot of these people flew back with us on the same plane! Sure a lot of them were very old people, but a lot of them probably have children and grandchildren...
After the war I have heard dozen were allowed to stay in Canada instead of being shipped home.
After the war Camp 30 was turned back to a boys school.

I can only remember back to around 1947 due to age.

There was a noise about 800 pounds gorilla - an NFP Act. Please see this link: https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/cd-dgc...h_cs04953.html Could anybody find anything there to make anybody concerned?
