  • The Chess Club - growing new members

An excellent way to gain new members for your chess club is through Meetups. These are suggested places where people can meet to play friendly, social games - you can even suggest a chess meetup at your club!
I have been organizing a chess meetup for about a year and have advanced about a dozen players to the Saturday Rapid as a result. Others have gone on to join the Annex Chess Club as well as other clubs. You might consider the meetup as your 'Farm League'.
In the past few days, chess meetups have been proposed in two new GTA locations - in
Scarborough and in Richmond Hill - check them out >>>>>>>

The best way to take advantage of these is to have a member of your club sign in to meetups then RSVP-YES and go to a few meetups there. Eventually you will find one or two chess players who are ready for club play. If all goes well, you may gain some dozen members a year.
