Egis has been an awesome organizer, building a year round
outstanding competitive program, in a newer suburban location.

Semantics is all very well, but you do not know his constraints.

The condition usually is that one can play up if "within 100 points of the section above floor limit". Can other organizers confirm whether I am right, that this is the normal template?

Under Aurora' term of "less than 100 points lower", it means, as far as I can see:

Two players in the 1500's want to play up at Aurora in the U 1600 section.

Player X is rated 1501 - he is allowed to play up (Less than 100 points below 1600).

Player Y is rated 1500 - he is NOT allowed to play up (NOT LESS THAN 100 points below 1600 - he is dead on 100 points lower, and so does not qualify).

Am I right on this Egis?? Is this what was intended?

What do others think? Is my interpretation correct?

One more possibility to use subway - the new TTC subway Downsview Park station is closely connected to the GO train Downsview Park station. However, it might work only going home to Toronto as there are no early Northbound trains.

The starting point: 7202 - VAUGHAN METROPOLITAN CENTRE, MILLWAY AVE, VAUGHAN
End: 89 INDUSTRIAL PKWAY N, AURORA (tournament location)

It might take more than 1 hour on buses from the subway station. The trip would be across Highway 7 to Yonge (Viva Orange bus), then north to Aurora (Viva Blue), and a final 33A or 54 YRT bus. Then 0.5 km walk. The cost is $4 or less with Presto card.

Also, somebody can start having tournaments at York now that it has a subway station.

The new station is on the West side and still quite far from Aurora. I have not checked yet how good is connection with Aurora, especially on weekends. GO bus from Union should be a better option - the Aurora GO station is nearby a playing place - about 10 min walk.
The Vaughan station should be good alternative going downtown (Hart House or Annex).

For this tournament it will be "1501" eligibility. Then we will think how to reword it.

Important information:

Dates: March 24-25, 2018

Place: The Royal Canadian Legion 89 Industrial Parkway North, Aurora, Ontario L4G 4C4

Prizes: First in Open Section – minimum 500 CAD. Overall prize fund $2000+ (based on entries).

Sections: Open and U2000 - CFC & FIDE rated; U1600 - CFC rated.

We are changing two lowest sections composition:

U1300 - bellow 1300 and unrated, Juniors (under 20 years) with rating bellow 900 and unrated will be playing in their special Junior section JU900 – both sections CFC rated. JU900 section is limited to 36 players.

The tournament is limited to 150 players. We had two previous tournaments sold out. Please don't delay your registration.

Time Control: 90 minutes per player + 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

Entry fees: Players must be CFC members. GM, WGM, IM and WIM free entry if confirmed by March 20.

Paid by March 20 (Tuesday) - 70 CAD
Paid by March 23 (Friday 5 pm) - 80 CAD
Tournament day - 100 CAD; paired for Round 2

For an additional Play-up fee – 30 CAD – a player can enter the higher Section if his/her rating is less than 100 points lower than the Section floor limit.

Registration: Only players who have registered and paid will be paired for Round one. Round one pairings will be posted in advance on our website late Friday night. You no longer need to “check-in” on Saturday as in previous tournaments.

You shall learn how to count. This Open section will happen 14th time with various number of players in Aurora. While we can not claim yest as BJ does "100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong", we're slowly moving towards those numbers :)

Under 2100 Under 1500

Open section is open to all players. Under sections are open only to players with ratings lower than the section limit. Players with provisional ratings (based on 25 games or fewer) may not win more than 40% of the top prize in any under section of the National Open; the balance of the prize goes to next players in line.

Go transit started to run trains on the Barrie line on weekends too. Check the schedule http://www.gotransit.com/timetables/...18/Table65.pdf
Looks that it could be useful going home to Toronto or Barrie. Coming to Aurora you'll need a bus.
