Sep 4 - Annual Meeting And Blitz Championship
We spend about an hour electing our executive for the next year and then talking about chess politics.
We then release all the frustration built up by the chess politics talk in a hand to hand chess blitz battle. Exact format of the blitz tournament will be determined by the number of participants who show up.
Sep 11 - Simul With IM Artiom Samsonkin
The Hamilton City Chess Club presents a Simultaneous Exhibition with International Master Artiom Samsonkin. The event is scheduled to start at 7:30pm but please come early to insure you get a seat.
While club members will get first dibs on available boards we expect about 20 additional boards to be available to non club members. To get on the waiting list for these available boards please email chesshamilton@gmail.com. Your place on the list is determined by when you email us. (First come, first served).
The only cost for this event is $3 to non members. (Members get normal membership discount.) We ask players to bring their chess sets and boards on this evening just in case we run out.

Sep 18 - Hamilton City Club Championship Begins
Our club championship is an 8 round swiss played on Fridays from September 18 to November 6. This is a CFC rated and sanctioned event so CFC memberships will be needed.
This year we will be having an additional section U1600, which we encourage juniors to participate in. (Adults u1600 may enter this section, but, be prepared to play a lot of kids)
Each game will start at 7:30 pm and the time controls will be 80 minutes with a 30 second increment. Because we are adapting to incremental time controls we ask participants to bring their digital clocks with increment capability.
Please register for this event on Friday Sep 18 at 7:00pm. The entry fee will be 15 dollars plus weekly room rent ($3 per week minus membership discount).

Our chess club meets every Friday from 6pm to 12am. It is located downtown Hamilton in the Education Centre on 100 Main Street West. (Use the parking and building entrance on Bay and King) Chess tournaments/events typically start at 7:30pm.
