  • International Team Chess Tournament 2020 Chess!

This e-mail was waiting in my in box today.

    ------

    Dear Canadian Chess Enthusiasts,

Firstly best wishes from all of us at 2020 Chess in these challenging times,

As a result of the changes we all now face, myself and some students decided to set up an online team chess tournament. For the first stage it mainly involved UK teams, though it still had plenty of top internationally titled players and ‘Tiger Sharks’ from London Hammersmith were the eventually winners defeating Financial Moscow University in the final.

The tournament is open to everyone and is free, and the matches take place on Monday and Friday evenings over two weeks before it resets. We have a variety of participants, from junior schools and academies, universities and clubs with internationally recognized players from all demographics competing against each-other in one division.

In the second stage teams from around the world are invited. We now have teams from Australia, South Africa (including their national club champions), Italy, USA (including Harvard and MIT), Malta, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Belize, Liberia, Ecuador and the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

We now have 66 sides in the competition, double than what we had in the first stage and we are continuing to grow even further and invite your club to join us!

Please see www.2020chess.com for more details and email back if you have any questions,
