Rd 1 The Shawn RL- Latorre game took a while to start real action but on move 29 Shawn found the maneuver Qe1-Qe3-Qg3 and the queen took over as boss on the kingside. After that full action happened on the kingside with the F-pawn lever and tripling on the F-file and eventual breakthrough. Win for Shawn.

Rd 1 Nicula- Panjwani Raja Panjwani kept the two bishops into the endgame and after some inaccuracies by his opponent would have collected two pawns, enough for resignation.

Preotu - Abrahams After some minor piece jousting Razvan Preotu forced through the A-pawn winning a piece and the game.

Piasetski-Sambuev Leon Piasetski had the advantage through most of the middlegame but with the exchange of queens the advantage dissipated. Result draw.

Rd 2 Zachary Dukic vs Shawn RL Zachary has the two bishops vs the two knights. A real spar fest going on. Exciting!
Zachary's exchange sack didnt work out and then he walked into a cute checkmate. Win for Shawn.

Jaferian vs Preotu After some interesting skirmishing White has won a pawn. Tough defence is in needed.
Yoosha found the most efficient way to finish. Big upset!

Rd 2 Sambuev vs Malakar. Of the GM games Bator Sambuev scores first with exciting pawn play.

Geordie Derraugh scores a knockout miniature with a devastating kingside attack against IM Chiku-Ratte.

Mike Ivanov's 15.Rxd5! and the pieces dance to a scintillating attack!

Rd 2 A little closer to home for me two former youth stars now masters Joshua Terry over Ryan Campbell. Good to see them both playing in the Canadian Championship.

Rd 3 Enjoyed Liu-Ajith Look at those pawns go. Especially the breakthrough 30...e3! scintillating! and tittilating!

also Li - Yang what a finish. Advice to young players: be very careful when you have combination of two knights and queen coming at you - can cause irreversible damage to your kings position.
