  • Canadian Forces chess Kingston: very nice event!

Brian Murray and Regis Bellemare did a superb job running a weekend event in Kingston on Nov. 28-29. :) :) :)

It was in two sections, Military and Civilian, and was rated by the CFC today. Although small, with only 14 players total, it was clear everyone had a great time, and the event ran very smoothly, with only one problem (over a last-round clock issue, which was resolved).

The site at Fort Frontenac compares with anything I have seen in Canadian chess. It was quiet, scenic, spacious, had good lighting, easy access, and had room for family and spectators, with free coffee as a bonus! Kingston chess people will be discussing the possibility of future events being possibly held there.

I've posted three key games from this event on chess5.com, along with one speed game I played between tournament rounds with the Military Section tournament winner, Roger Lebrun of Pembroke.
