Does anyone remember this event from 1993? Did it happen, is there a record of the game?

AN INTERCONTINENTAL chess match and free swimming and skating will be among the events scheduled for this year's WinterActive Interntional beginning Jan. 23.
In this, the fifth edition of the event, Hamilton will join 32 other cities in five countries in promoting the importance of healthy winter activities.
Cities in the various countries are twinned and matched in a friendly competition to determine which centre can persuade more of its citizens to take part.
Last year, almost 90,000 Hamilton citizens participated in a variety of 20-minute winter activities as part of the event. Once again the city is pitted against the Russian industrial city of Penza.
Exchange
The event, which now includes cities in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Finland, Sweden and the United States, grew out of an exchange program with the former Soviet Union, says Coralee Secore, manager of planning for the department of culture and recreation.
With the help of Fitness Canada and some international corporate sponsorship, WinterActive was born with the dual purpose of helping the CIS get organized and generally encouraging winter activites in the northern hemisphere.
'The real purpose is to get people to participate. They take part in a 20-minute (activity) and that gives us one kilometre. What we're trying to do is make our way halfway to Penza.'
Penza, a city 400 kilometres (250 miles) southwest of Moscow, Ms Secore said, 'is very much like Hamilton. It has about the same population, it has an escarpment, it has a lake. And steel's their base.'
During the two-week period from Jan. 23 to Feb. 7, citizens of both cities are being asked to take part in winter activities.
In Hamilton, free skating and swimming will be offered on various days during WinterActive, provided the participant brings the special 'loonie label' can of Campbell's soup, one of the corporate sponsors. The food collected will be donated to the food banks.
In addition, two schools in Hamilton will be involved in a letter- exchange program with schools in Penza and the Hamilton chess club will be conducting chess matches with its counterpart in Penza using fax and ham radio.
A WinterActive passport listing all the activites and free venues is available from the department of culture and recreation at city hall or any recreation centre.
