We received the following email at the FQE, and I thought this could be of interest to Chess Talk readers.
The Chess club „Rijeka“ organises an 4th open chess tournament „Mediterranean 2017“.
The tournament will be held from 13 November to 20 November 2010 in the city of Rijeka, located at the North-west part of the Croatian coast of the Adriatic sea. The manifestation is organised for the occasion of the candidacy of the city of Rijeka for organisation of the Mediterranean games in 2017, under the moto „Chess with the scent of the sea“ and with the idea to promote companionship and cooperation of chess players and chess federations of the Mediterranean countries and will be held in the club space of Chess club „Rijeka“ in Rijeka, Blaža Polića 2/2, which surface of 650 sqm serves exclusivelly for chess playing.
The president of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović, has accepted to be a sponsor of this chess manifestation, while the County primorsko-goranska and the City of Rijeka are the co-sponsors.
We are expecting and hoping that this tournament will become an event of high quality and participation of chess players in Croatia.
