Sadly, Kevin Spraggett lost [horribly] to Vovk in the final round. Overall he did pretty well though and finished on 6/9 (+4 = 4 -1) with a 2608 rating performance. Not bad for a veteran!

Dreev played the variation Kevin used today, with success. He played 13. exf5 which seemed to give him fluid play.

He is a Ukrainian chess player which became a Grandmaster in 2008, at age 20.

Kevin has a big game in his final round. He still has a chance for a first place tie if he wins. Kevin has white.

Board 1 has to be a draw and the other leader on board 2 has to draw or lose for a big first place tie.

Kevin Spraggett beat Henrik Teske and is in joint 2nd place with 5.5/7 (+4 =3 -0). He is the only 'veteran' near the top of the standings. Hopefully he can do well in the remaining rounds.

He faces Hans Tikkanen (2550) with black in Round 8.

In any case, if the line is good for black you'd see it more in top play.
