  • Ottawa Spring Open: late format changes

Hi chess fans, last August, when the RA Centre gave us this coming weekend, I never thought to check against big youth events outside the region. In addition, over a dozen players have deferred their registration in the last 24 hours. Therefore, we need to adjust our format a bit for this coming weekend. The U2200 and U1900 sections are still OK! :)

For the Masters Section, we are setting up a 2-day 4-game match between two very well known elite players. I will confirm back here as soon as I can. All registered players rated over 2200 have already been contacted. For any other player rated over 2200, please email/text me before coming out, as we would need to specifically plan all your games.

For the U1600 Section, due to the low number of players, it will be a hybrid round-robin section. There will still be a prize, even though so far, there are only 2 non-Amateurs.

Finally, all onsite registrations and payments should be done before 7pm, for Swiss pairings.

    All the best, Aris.
