Due to several reasons, there has been no rapid tournament since April 7.
Now it becomes more difficult to encourage players to show up. What can I tell them? Please come in case there is a tournament? In the past the tourney has failed no more than once or twice a year. There is only so much as the organizer that I can do - I arrange the location, provide the equipment and set up the chess sets. Now here is an opportunity for the players to show their support.
If you do not think the weekly gathering is worthwhile, then stay home and play on the internet. If you would like to see live chess continue then come out tomorrow for a fun afternoon. And first time players (those whose names do not appear on the ratings list below) may enter for half price ($15) while the prizes will remain unaffected.

The 15 minute Rapid is played from 2pm every Saturday
at the Maple Leaf Sports Bar 828 Danforth (half way between
the Pape and Donlands subway stations).
Entry fee is $30 - cash prizes for winners in rating
groupings as well as the top two or three over all.
