Erik Malmsten posted a Visitor Message for Heidi Gay
    Hi Heidi,

Letting you know that I'm available to help set up at the Canadian Closed. (As I did at the ACC's Ontario Open in the west end's masonic lodge.)

I told the nearby Beaches Chess Club about the event and hope you have contacted the Scarborough Club as well as the hundreds of players who have attended previous ACC weekend tournaments.

I live two blocks west of the site. I've attended community meetings on the rumble of the subway trains. It has nothing to do with how strong or high a building is, but that the subway tunnel was built too close to the surface and has sheets of metal as walls. Noise worsen with heavier subway trains with A/C and heating, and uneven wheels.

I thought what I posted on Chesstalk was 99% positive, but no site is perfect. So instead of sharing your ignorance of a local issue, and to be more diplomatic, you could have written something like:

Thanks for the information on all the food choices nearby. When I visited the hall I never noticed any distant subway noise.

    - Erik

Duly noted Erik... I definitely appreciated your comments regarding all of the information on the venue. Also I unfortunately have not had the chance to visit personally, though that should be fixed the week after March Break. I've planned our capacity based on floor plans, which is less than ideal.

I've reached out to Scarborough Chess Club, Mississauga Chess Club, Willowdale, etc. all the usual suspects in the GTA that I'm aware of. I'll be sure to reach out to Beaches, thanks for the suggestion.

We would definitely appreciate help with setup and tear down if you are available.
