  2. Hi, Gordon
I was googling some info about Nakamura's new biography, when I found your post about it here at ChessTalk. Your name rang a bell. Then it hit me that this was the same guy who gave my book, Engaging Pieces, a one-star review at Amazon and called it "fluffy to a fault." That was years ago and I have no animosity today, but it always bothered me that there was a "hit and run" review (without details) that labelled my work as "fluffy." Perhaps some of the fiction was amateurish and not very good (I've never considered myself a fiction writer and included it in the book for a sense of completeness), but, to state the truth, I pride myself on the anti-fluffiness and sophistication of my non-fiction, and I believe that some of the pieces in that book were examples of excellent chess writing. My article about Mark Glickman and the USCF rating system was very technical yet understandable by the layman; my review of the movie "Kasparov and the Machine" was erudite and technically prescient regarding the ascendency of computer chess; my profile of Mig Greengard truly showed who this man was at that time; my interview with Hikaru Nakamura was the first of its kind. So, I ask, besides the fiction, what exactly did you find fluffy? I'd like to have an intelligent discussion about this. As a writer, I always appreciate feedback. Again, I was angry about the review at the time, but now no animosity exists and I write to you only out of curiosity. Please, I prefer you respond to my email, w_rox@yahoo.com.
    Best,

    Hi Gordon

Sorry, I somehow missed your reply to my first Visitor Message that I wrote for you. If my previous Visitor message wasn't helpful because you don't know how to get to and click on 'User CP' (in order to join a Social Group), it's on every main chesstalk Forum page near the upper left side (to the left of 'FAQ' [a useful thing to click on & read, btw], 'Members List' etc.). Once you join a Social Group this way (or even before doing so), you can get access to Social Groups more quickly by clicking on 'Quick Links', which is just to the left of 'Log Out' at the upper right side on every chesstalk Forum page.
  4. Count me in. How do you see this working?
