Gary, first post has been amended.
CFC rated sections are now: "Cash prizes and/or trophies based on entries".
Once we get the preregistered populated, we can be more definitive about the prizes.
No moving up a section, same as Milton Active 2012.

          Hi all,

Just a little reminder of two weeks to go for the Campbellville Fall Open Active. We hope to make this an annual event. Great tourney to practice openings for big tourneys and to shake the dust off. If you have never played in a chess tournament, this is the tournament to get you started in the world of competitive chess. Hope to see all of you there. You can register by emailing to me at miltonchess@hotmail.com or going to miltonchess.ca and look under the Campbellville 2013 Active link.

          Cheers and its your move!

I am getting some unanticipated questions:

Could you have another lower rated section, say U1200?

Well, effectively we do. The Recreational section was created specifically for those lower rated players, say 600-1200 rated. We made it an unrated section since many of these players have played kids only tournaments (CFC or CMA) and don't have a CFC membership yet. The motive is to make it easier for them to participate in their first adult tournament. We tried this out at the Milton Active last year, we got 15 kids, and a year later, most are competing with the adults at tournaments and clubs.

The Recreational section is not a kids only section. Adults are most welcome. There are a lot of adults out there who have discovered chess late in life via the internet. They don't have any tournament experience, and maybe have visited a chess club and got beat up by the regulars. If this describes you or somebody you know, this is the perfect opportunity to give tournament chess a try. Don't be shy. We expect the section will have a few underrated juniors, some struggling beginners, and hopefully a few adults.

Adam, are you living in West Hamilton currently? If you are, I can tell you who lives near you at the Hamilton Chess Club tonight.

I'm thinking some people have the impression Campbellville is some far away place.
Just 32 minutes west of Pearson Airport. Really close to TO, eh!

Bob, I have not been able to find a ride yet.

Garvin, I'm currently living at Mcmaster so that would be appreciated.
