  • Recent Korchnoi interview

In a recent (August) interview with Alexander Kruglikov published on the St Petersburg website Nevskoye Vremya, GM Viktor Korchnoi says he hopes to return to competitive play before the end of the year. He is confined to a wheelchair and must restrict himself to events where his accommodations are in the same building as the playing hall. Korchnoi heaps praise upon Vladimir Kramnik, whom he says is continuing to progress as a player despite having already achieved a great deal in chess. Rather surprisingly, Korchnoi does not think very highly of Magnus Carlsen's play. Finally, he says he was surprised and disappointed when Garry Kasparov retired from chess at a younger age than that of his own (Korchnoi's) greatest successes.

They are very interesting views of GM. Victor Korchnoi! I personally think, not everybody will share and agree with those views as well.
