I remember someone in the 1970's who sold his house to wait for the prices to come back down. Guessed wrong.

Next time someone calls to ask if you want to sell your house ask some questions. Stuff like where you're supposed to live and listen to the expensive replies. Ask the caller how you know if you'll like your neighbors as much if you move as you like your current neighbors. The more time you have to waste or the more bored you are, the more questions you ask.

Don't worry about wasting the callers time. After all, they called you.

Don't spend my 20 dollars on that 1%. The inevitable comes closer. :D

                Hi Gary:

My concern is that the 1% are going to TAKE my $ 20. But I'm protecting it to the full, have security programs all around it, and a firewall.

I need it to be healthy and happy when its cousin moves in after the next federal election, and Tom Mulcair is Prime Minister!:D

Hope you are equally protecting your future migrant $ 20!

Poor Andrea. The ghosts of NPDers past, who never won any provincial election, came back to haunt her.

Hang on to my 20. Chances are Justin will move back into the house where he grew up.

I've never been a fan of Marxism, knowing the sort of governments resulting so far from attempts to carry it out. I seem to recall that in his youth Stalin was on his way to becoming a priest when one day he stopped at a bookshop and he was attracted to a book on Marxism.

I have my doubts about capitalism too. Just as the ideal act of a warrior in battle is legalized murder, so too is the ideal act of commerce legalized theft, as I see it. Ask anyone who has lost a negotiation, or IBM's CEO after Bill Gates did his trick. Certainly capitalism needs to have regulations imposed, or relaxed, every now and then, in a pragmatic way that means capitalism can never be 'perfect', in this forever imperfect world that we live in.

Hi Kevin: In his early days, Marx was a humanist philosopher.....there is a most interesting book from him during this period (may be called the Young Marx or Writings of the Young Marx - if anyone could get me the accurate title it would be appreciated). In there, he is very impressive in his belief in human nature and positiveness about our future. It is from this background that he criticized the capitalist system. And I agree with you that almost all those regimes alleging themselves to follow Marx, were in fact "Facist Communism" (my label).....ruling not with the support of the people, but by military suppression of dissent (Marx would not have agreed, as far as I know....unless someone can refer me to one of his texts). But the one country situation that most approximates what a Marxist government should be, is the Socialist/Communist Alliance of Chile under Dr. Salvadore Allende. It did not seek control of the population by military force......but at the same time, this was its undoing. General Pinochet took care of the peoples' experiment, and installed his brutal military dictatorship. So I think those who reject "communism" as we've seen it implemented in history, are quite justified in doing so. But I believe they should further evaluate the potential of implementation of true "Marxist government".

I'm almost sure this is it ....thanks - "Writings of the young Marx on philosophy and society": This translation and edition of the writings of young Marx by two scholars, one an outstanding philosopher, the other a specialist in German literature, marks a significant contribution to Marxian studies.... Was on humanism, philosophy and society (not sure how much he delved in depth into politics and capitalism.....don't remember). I'll look at Spirits' Den (our hobby farm/swamp/forest) this Christmas holidays....we have a large library up there, and I think I still should have the book there.......I might, if I find it, try and re-read it over the holidays, given that I have such a favourable view of it in my mind, from the first reading when taking philosophy in University.

Has anyone else read it recently? If so, got any review of it for the rest of us plebs?
