    Nicholas De T Checa, currently the #2 11-year-old in the U.S. (2267 USCF), seems to treat chess as no more than a "hobby".

        Here's another September story on "Nico" albeit it doesn't mention the 'hobby' aspect (Nicholas evidently 'only' spends 1 to 2 hours per day on chess during the school year).
