    almost every Windsor kid (5 of 6 kid participants) won cash prize(around $100 or $200) in 2013 Harold Steen Memorial Cup in Michigan this weekend.

      :) thanks. it is interesting to see kids are happy sometimes to win cash instead of trophy. it is an advantage being living at the border though we may complain there are no chess tournaments locally or nearby in Canada. Comparing the cost to play a Canadian Tournament, it is much cheaper in US(unless it is for cash prize), some 4 rounds tournaments only cost $5 for junior if just for rating and there are free internet and snack on site.

        Is the same with Vancouver area kids who are playing in WA state - the parents enjoy shopping in meanwhile.
