    Nelson Mandela, who was called "Tata Madiba" (father of the nation) by South Africans, passed away yesterday. Mandela was a world famous anti-apartheid fighter who became the first truly democratic President of South Africa. He spent many years imprisoned by that criminal regime, during which time he taught chess to other prisoners to keep up their spirits.
