  • John Grefe

The Washington Times has a short, tangential obituary on the passing of the American IM, John Grefe.

The ChessMind covered Grefe's passing 9 days earlier with an apposite Wiki link.

And for a great picture of a younger John Grefe, check out:

Canadian content - John Grefe came tied for 2nd in the Western Canada Open, held in Edmonton - April 29 to May 7, 1978. (Yasser Seirawan won with 8/9; Grefe tied with Peter Biyiasis with 7.5). This seems to be his only Canadian event.

He also tied for first with Peter Biyiasas and James McCormick at the 4th Keres Memorial the following year.
