  • Request to Board Moderator - Nigel

    Hi Nigel:

Unfortunately, on Chesstalk, I do not have the admin. authority to change the subject title, though I started the thread. It is the one "Anthropomorphic Planet Destruction (not a climate change thread)".

As admin - could I ask you to make two changes to my thread subject title:

    1. replace the word, "Anthropomorphic" with the word "Anthropogenic"?

    2. replace the word "Planet" with "Planetary"?

    Thanks.

    Re: Request to Moderator

Ok, done. lol. I didn't know I could do that.

P.S. I'm the only listed moderator. Larry, the late Yves Casaubon, Christian Lacasse, and the hacker account hello22 are the Administrators.

      Hi Nigel:

Thanks a lot - knew you could figure it out if the pressure was on!! :)

Further Request: Would you also change, since we all appeal to you if problems, the subject heading of this thread?

Please replace "Administrator" with "Moderator"! :) :)

          ChessTalk Transparency: Nigel, Moderator

          Hi Nigel:

Thanks. It wasn't just a frivolous request, though a bit humourous too.

I believe transparency on public boards is very important. The public needs to know the facts about with whom they are dealing. We should know the distinction between an administrator of this board, and a moderator. These have different levels of authority. And you are the one we deal with almost exclusively, so we should know who you are (we do somewhat from your moderating), and your authority.

It is different on Facebook, and I am somewhat unhappy about it as a user and administrator of five FB accounts. Many do not know that there are in fact five levels of FB administrators, with increasing power from the bottom up. Oh, it is in the policy fineprint, but few people know that. And administrators use the page icon when posting to hide their identity from the users. We never know who it is who is deciding what.

It is pleasant that here on ChessTalk, we know the person who is the moderator. Thanks, and good moderating in future - you seem to be doing a good job, given the rather low level of complaint.

A practice I follow on my FB pages/groups, is to put after my name when I make an administrative post, my title. Thus all know I'm an admin, and my level. I don't know if that seems beneficial to you. I'll just leave it with you.
