Gary Ruben has just 100 posts fewer than the 25th through 30th combined. I wonder if this is a reflection of income inequality???

I guess that refers to having to play Stock Market to make ends meet every month.

Re: Top 30 Posters on Chesstalk

The top chesstalk posters of all-time gets too much weight to the oldtimers. The last few New Years I posted the top of the year and am a bit late this time as I was actually studying chess for my Feb. 1 Toronto Chess News article. So the totals for 2013 include January 2014.

Top 2013 (those with 200 posts)

          1. SIMC Gary Ruben, 737, the Gordie Howe of chesstalk has passed the 4,000 post mark!
          2. Egidijus Zeromskis, 599, almost tied Gary last year but dropped off 19%.
          3. Felix Dumont, 593, up from 7th place, a 45% increase in number of posts.
          4. Hugh Brodie, 526, another steady 500+ year.
          5. Wayne Komer, 485, a rising superstar with his coverage of international events.
          6. Bob Armstrong, 485, keeps almost neck to neck with Brodie.
          7. Michael Yip, 457, up from 17th, almost doubled his posts in promoting his news site.
          8. FM Hans Jung, 449, up from 23th place, has been posting even on non-blindfold threads.
          9. Kevin Pacey, 335, is up 10%.
          10. Vlad Dobrich, 328, up 21%.
          11. Kerry Liles, 293, a big drop from 8th, down 23%.
          12. Jack Maguire, 275, last year's new star, is still going strong up from 19th place and up 21%.
          13. Nigel Hanrahan, 265, is working hard.
          14. IA Larry Bevand, 258, drops a little.
          15. Bob Gillanders, 258, up a little.
          16. John Upper, 218, the CFC editor always keeps in contact.
          17. Mathieu Cloutier, 212, up from 82 posts, another new superstar.
          18. Zeljko Kitich, 210, has moved and drops by over 50% but stays active.

Dropping below 200 were Vlad Drkulec, Louis Morin, IM Jean Hébert, FA Christopher Mallon, IA Aris Marghetis, Jordan S. Berson, Roger Patterson, and IM Aman Hambleton (who has his own blog). In 2012 we had 21 chesstalk posters who had posted 200 or more times, 22 who posted 100 to 199 times, and 32 who posted 50 to 99 times. In 2013 those figures are slightly lower 18, 20, and 34. In 2013 we had a large drop by some leading posters: Paul Beckwith, IM Jonathan Berry, Normand Arsenault, Claude Lalumière, Claude Carrier, Mikhail Egorov, Marc Poulin, Shao Hang He, Denton Cockburn, Brian Raymer, and Lucas Davies.

          Other Rising Players

Rene Preotu from 40 to 131 posts, 26th place
          James Williamson 130
Dan Scoones from 30 to 90
          Ken Kurkowski 64 to 92
          Ralph Deline 44 to 75
          George Zhou 74
          Gaeton Samson 7 to 52, 68th place
          Mario Moran-Venegas 13 to 31

We hope to see more from these folks.
