  • Chess Scholarships

There are, of course, numerous scholarships available to premium chess players in the U.S. (of which a number of Canadians have taken advantage). The following news item on Justin Tan, a 2328 FM, makes it evident that there are also chess scholarships available in the U.K.

Too bad Canada continues to lag behind the times in this same regard ):

Lithuania also jumped the train. One university offers good conditions to chess players - a scholarship, a hostel, a coach (my IM friend :) Two prominent students - WGM D.Daulyte, FM T.Vedrickas.

With their venomous hatred of science in general, the current regime in Ottawa may just bring all scholarship in Canada to an end. And then there would be no need for scholarships for anything, including chess.

You gotta hand it to the Harper regime: they hate anyone who thinks for themselves, no prejudices there, no sir ree Bob.
Dogs will bark, but the caravan of chess moves on.
