Just a reminder, in case there are problems again with ChessTalk, that the CFC discussion boards are available for posting.

    Re: CFC Website

It is good to have the link

    http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/fo...2-English-Chat

    handy if ChessTalk goes down.

With the site down since Friday afternoon, I thought at first that my computer had picked up a virus that was redirecting the ChessTalk url to lunarpages.com

The chesscanada forum showed me that others had the same problem so it wasn’t the fault of my computer or my browser.

There being little that I could do I watched the Olympics, took a walk and did crossword puzzles.

But it was not the same. And, there was that annoying feeling that ChessTalk might be down for a long time.

Whether our site was hacked, or it was a virus or someone is not paying his bills, we probably shall never know. Stupid lunarpages! Welcome back C.T.

      Hey Gord,

      RE.
"the CFC discussion boards are available for posting"

When a technical glitch occurs at CMA, I look into it, and
post updates online immediately on our news, Boardhost, etc.

      However -

I applied to join the "CFC discussion board", 5 years ago.
      I was never approved!

I applied again last week, when ChessTalk went down.
I have still not been "approved", to post, etc!

      What gives??

      Francis

I have no idea, Francis. I believe Chris Mallon is the administrator and seems to think he is also the gatekeeper. Perhaps you might ask him.

It may just be my computer, but the CFC Discussion board is very slow in loading at the moment. Chesstalk is also loading a little slowly (in fact, this website apparently was 'down' until a moment ago).

[edit: loading speed for both sites improved now for me]

I am pretty sure Chris is not involved with the administration of the CFC website (perhaps the forum...) - Francis should just email info@chess.ca and see if that works. There is a lot of email that goes to that one address and things get missed sometimes for a while, sometimes forever it seems.

              Hi Francis,

I looked up your profile and it appears that you joined on February 16th. I don't see any restrictions on the right to post.
