Players within 100 points of section floor play up at $10

Byes : Maximum of 2 in rounds 1-4 if requested in advance.
Byes requested during event are 0 point.

Prizes : Open Section Guaranteed 100% payout as Prize Fund ( $25 per entry )

Hi Guys,

We will be having our second edition of Mississauga Standard 2 months from now on May 11, 2014 ( Sunday ). We had a wonderful maiden outing with 32 players and the tournament was well run with Ferdinand Sup Sup as the TD. We hope to have a higher turnout for the coming one and hope you guys will give your full support. There will be a newly created section ( recreational ) where the players especially new players do not need to be CFC members.

This tournament is created for you guys so do register early for us to make a perfect preparation for you guys. We want to ensure the players are comfortable during the tournament and the tournament to be well run again.

We have 13 players registered to date . Pre registered will be announce soon.

Please do register early for us to be well prepared.

If the response is good we may create another section U 2000 section if necessary.

Look forward to more registration before I post the list. It is never too early to register even though it is about two months away as we want to make the best preparation for the players.

New announcement : Since the tournament falls on Mother's Day, for mom, if you and your kids are playing, you will be entitled to half price but your kids pays the normal price.

Where are the players for the recreational section ? This section is created mainly for new and up and coming players at Mississauga chess club ( biggest chess club in Canada ). We hope to have 16 players in each section ( total 48 players ). Hope we can have support from MCC members.

There is a chess camp for from June 28 to July 3 in Mississauga. The venue is at U of T ( Mississauga campus ) same venue as the Mississauga May Standard. Looking at the past few months, there has been a growth in interest either in more tournaments, more players coming up and now probably the chess camp will be a permanent feature in Mississauga....Cheers !!!

Quite a number of top juniors in Mississauga won the recent OCC ( top 3 finish ) and definitely an exciting time ahead for Mississauga ( biggest chess club in Canada )

We are up to 26 players now. Top junior player Sergey Noritsyn and brother Ivan just registered. I will update the pre registered list later.

The two upper sections looks very interesting.

Hope the newer players will try out our newly created section - recreation section and it cost only $15 for 4 rounds. It's only $4 a round
Seems there are a lot of positive news going around in Canada.

1. Food court very likely to open during that weekend. Don't have to worry about the food then.
2. The next Mississauga standard will not be in July. We intend to hold them every 2 months but as CYCC is held in July and it is summer holiday, we may think of holding it either in August or very likely in October as Mississauga Open is likely to be held in September. Mississauga open will be FIDE rated.

Do not miss this Mississauga May standard as besides the low entry fee, it serves as a good practice for juniors to have a chance to play with FM and NM in the Open section. The Prizes are very attractive too for all sections. You will have to wait for another few months before the next one. For $ 25, you could be winning 3 to 10 tens times the entry fee if you ended up top 3. Besides, there should be a prize for Best 2000 for Open and probably best 1200 for U-1600.

1. We have 20 players in U-1600 section now. A couple of winners at the last weekend OYCC are in the list of the players.
2. We need more players in the other 2 sections. As of now in the Open section, looks like FM Razvan and NM Adam will fight it out for the top place. Closely behind will be top junior Sergey and Federico.
3. Juniors, don't give them an easy ride and have a go at them. Who knows, you could create an upset and you are on your way to above the 2000 !!! This is one of the main objective of this tournament which is an opportunity for the juniors to have a go at Masters !!

As of now in the Open section, looks like FM Razvan and NM Adam will fight it out for the top place. Closely behind will be top junior Sergey and Federico.

Hmm....that's interesting...which one is on your mind besides Sergey and Federico ? I really hope the top two guys will given a tough fight. The last time, Tomas and Razvan ran away with 3 wins and drew with each other in the last round. Hopefully this time around will not be a repeat.

U-1600 section is interesting with 3 top Mississauga juniors ( Allyson / Kylie and Matthew ) giving the highest rated David Robinson a run of his money !!! Last time around Michael Huang ( one of the top Mississauga junior ) won the section but can't defend his title now as he has already graduated to the Open section now.

Where are the players for the Recreational section ?
