Still to come are reports on the side events (YCC, Active, Midnight Blitz, Bughouse) and a pgn file. (and probably some more photos)

That link didn't work for me, but perhaps this is what you meant:

What tie break system was used to break the first place tie?

In today's environment, with the shorter time controls and time increments, the only system which makes sense for breaking ties is to use age. The older player should get the higher placing.

Your link has the same problem :-)

But I've fixed it. I forgot that this site deals with some addresses in a funny way when cut and pasting.

As per our general policies http://grandpacificopen.pbworks.com/...18009/Policies

          first tiebreak is cumulative score
2nd tiebreak is cumulative score of the opponents.

The problem with cumulative score of the opponents is if a player gets unlucky and an opponent withdraws the chances of winning a tie break decrease.

Re: Grand Pacific Open Event Report

When a link is *quoted* it is abbreviated in a way that breaks it. I can click on the original link I posted and it works. Clicking on the quotation of it in your reply does not...
I find it best to hover over the link and look at where the browser believes it would go IF the link is clicked - the appearance of "..." in that hint means you are going to a 404
Anyway, thanks for correcting your link.
